"Life is Wonderful"
This is definitely out of my Sunday to-do list-- one entire pad sheet-long of unticked boxes; specifications, perspective sketches, furniture detail, storyboard, rationale, and a mental note to make sure I get at least two hours of sleep before the sun peaks out, I guess that's about enough to get through my Monday class.
Yes, I'm a design student. It’s a love-hate kind of thing, can’t say for sure.
You start your day off thinking you're gonna kill yourself halfway in with the contrast of activities that are laid out on today's schedule;
9AM calls for punctuality, ‘cause it's a chapter test,
but by 1:30 you're already daubing tints of the rainbow, just about any color sometimes even too tired, that the only goal is to fill up that sheet of Berkeley before deadline hour.. After all, it cost you sixty pesos.
You still live like a regular person--- take your lunch, laugh a bit, run into friends and complain about life, and laugh a bit again. It's only an intermission ‘til the next dreadful 5-hour long design class.
You come home to steal a nap that turns into a glorious drooling slumber, but you need it. It gets you going through dawn, ‘cause this is the time you get things done.
You then finish before sunrise, go to bed and repeat the same seemingly impossible schedule, but then halfway ‘til that toga you'll realize that the same seemingly impossible schedule becomes your nature. It grows on you, makes you who you are.
I remember a film director who once stated in his speech before his entire batch of graduating film students,
"You grow into realizing that the struggle itself becomes the reward."
I laughed in agreement, and just like them, came to think of my own hectic everydays, I guess I could call this my secret success.
My college life is a joke I tell to many--- a love-hate kind of thing; love that I hate it, hate that I love it, and still I’ll never say for sure.
